@Division
Today the word "Bosnian" exists and is recognized by the international community. Whenever that book was written, the term Bosnian Muslim Division' was used so that the English speaking world, and people with poor background of the time could simply read about that particular division rather then look at the entire situation at the time i.e. going into Croat and Muslim relations ... 500 years of history etc ...
The term "Bosnian" as a nationality did not really exist (atleast in modern history) until BiH declared independence or a little before. Even within Tito's Yugoslavia up until the 1960's when people were classified by ethnicity - todays "Bosnians" were classified as either Serbs, Croats or simply "Muslim". During NDH there was not "Bosnian" identity, the Handzar Division was that of Poglavnik Dr. Ante Pavelic and his NDH. End of story.

Actually, the "Handschar" Division was of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Luitpold Himmler and the SS; if you would care to do some research into the topic you would note that the government of the NDH, such as it was, did not condone the creation of the division as a unit consisting of Bosnian Muslims.Junak1929 wrote:During NDH there was not "Bosnian" identity, the Handzar Division was that of Poglavnik Dr. Ante Pavelic and his NDH. My point was, that division consisted of Citizens of NDH. There is no doubt that it was made up of Muslims - which were Croats - from Bosna - a province of Croatia. People like the chap seen above, say "Bosnian Muslim Division" as if they were independent as "Bosnians" or something.
