Hello You posted that in the thread about Polish SS:
Hello!
I have not encountered Poles in the SS, but there surely were other ways in collaborating. For instance, the infamous "Trawniki men", educated in Camp Trawniki (Lublin). Several Poles served in KZs, including Auchwitz.

The "Trawniki" men (one batallion), aside Polish police were there during the destruction of the Warzaw ghettos. Stroop mentions 4 officers and 263 men.

1500 Trawniki men followed the Wehrmacht during the withdrawal.

B.
From what i read about them, they were Ukrainians not Poles
Inb the same spirit many Ukrainians served as KZ guards. Never heard of poles doing that. The only exception applying there would be that there were Volksdeutche.....

The only polish camp guard that I have encountered is SS Wachmann Bronislaw Hajda, who served at Treblinka. I can't remember where I got his name from, but i'm pretty sure I never just made him up.

Starinov, you may have missed this line in the document

"The order directs that Hajda be removed to Poland, his country of birth, or in the alternative, Germany, from which he immigrated to the United States."

Hello!
The Ukrainians is another chapter. The men described were Polish, so say my sources (Neulen). When I get home, and if you want to, I can go deeply into the background of these men.

Hetman

Hajda is maybe a polish name but some SS members also have polish-sounding names....

And you have Poles with german names living in Silesia or in Great Poland near Poznan....

So the name does not proove anything. Also, maybe the guy became a volksdeutche in 1939-40 so he lost his polish citizenship even if he was born in Poland. (I am not trying to defend him but triyng to verify who the guy is).

by the way, Hetman, yes I am...
