Foreign officers in the Sipo-SD
Foreign officers in the Sipo-SD
Has somebody information about the foreign officers of the Sipo-SD?
In every occupied country there where foreigners employed by the Sipo-SD as Dolmetscher, translators, Kraftfahrer, drivers and Wachmänner, guards.
They wore the Feldgrau uniform of the SS and where referred to as Hilfspolizeibeamter.
I found some information about following Walloon and French officers:
Walloon: SS-Ostuf. Charles Lambinon (1911), Sonderkommando Wallonien
Walloon: SS-Ustuf. Marcel Vervloet (1919), Sonderkommando Wallonien
Breton: SS-Ustuf. Célestin Lainé (1908-1983), Bezen Perrot

Lainé died in Ireland in 1983, in exile. He was a chemical engineer and a Breton Nationalist.
You can find hei memories on UWM site "The Biographie-Memoires of. Célestin Lainé "
His militia was only 70 men, hated by nearly all bretons. As a resistance movement leader told me: "We hated them especIAlly because they spoke breton, our mother tongue, like us and they used it to help the Nazis"

The Hilfspolizeibeamter were not commissioned SS-officers. Certainly the ones recruited in the East rarely had any SS rank.
The three men quoted in the original post are not listed in John Moore's Waffen-SS officer listing, not are they listed in RG 260 (a list of all existing BDC SS officer files). RG 260 is a US NARA microfilm.

Didn’t know there was a list of all SS-officers.
How could I research the RG260? Is the Microfilm digitalised?
How come these officers aren’t mentioned in that document?

I would like to correct this mistaken assumption. One of the primary reasons Bezen Perrot was established because of French cultural & social suppression of the Bretons (The Bretons weren't Gauls but they were Celts-related race that had more similarities with Irish, Scots, etc.). To say that the Bretons hated the Bezen Perrot is a false assumption since Bezen Perrot was created to fight the French oppression and not to fight for national socialism. The Breton moderates were hoping for a neutrality similar to Ireland's in WW2 whereas the Breton nationalists (Celestine Laine, Alan Heussaf etc.) were striving for an independent Brittany out of French domination and they believed that the Germans may help them to achieved this goal.Ghjuvan wrote:Lainé died in Ireland in 1983, in exile. The murder of Abbe Jean-Marie Perrot by fanatical French communists in 1943 was the last straw that propels the Breton freedom fighters to launch a group to fight against the terroristic assassination methods of the French communists.
The Frenchh government lifted the death sentences on the Breton nationalists who were tried in absentia only in the 1960s after pressure from Ireland and EU
Daniel Leach's book "Fugitive Ireland" is probably the most definitive book in English that talks about the Bezen Perrot from their genesis to their escape to Ireland.
