William Dudley Pelley and his Silver Shirts
William Dudley Pelley and his Silver Shirts
I can't find any pictures of this guy and his "stormtroopers". Any links? I've just read his bio after seeing a quick reference to him in the "Why we Fight" series. I'd post the link to his controversial bio here but it's unfortunately on a white power site and I don't want to get banned. But a Google search will take you there.

Hi. I have not posted in a while, but thanks for the links. Somehow the geocities links refuse to work, but the other one does. My interest in Pelley is out of reading that article on him that i had mentioned earlier, i wanted to see pictures so i could link a face to the name. Thanks for this link.
Try this one instead: http://www.geocities.com/obscurist/MrFurious wrote:Somehow the geocities links refuse to work

Re: William Dudley Pelley and his Silver Shirts
One hold over from the 1940's was the "States Rights" movement. Though this movement centered in the Southern States, it was a national movement in scope.
One of the lastest movements that I remember was "National States’ Rights Party"
It was founded in 1958 by Edward Fields. They:
a. Used the SS Rune as a symbol.
b. The name of their publication was " The Thunderbolt"
c. Their uniform was a Silver Shirt, black belt, boots and Sam Browne belt.
They considered themselves part of a patrotic movement dedicated to the preservation of the US Consutition. In reality, they spent most of thier time defending against acusations of being a facist orgainzation.
Though this movement was small, it's members were acitive against the 1960's Civil Rights Movement. This was to be expected, as most of the members had come into the NSRP from the KKK and other racist groups the members considered not militant engough.
Strangly, few ever ex-NSRP member ever migrated to the ANP, NSWPP, NSWM, or any of the other "White Power" organizations as the NSRP membership dwindled.
