Sgoda camp - Poland

#1

Post by DavidFrankenberg » 08 May 2018, 23:48

Hi,
The Sgoda camp was used by soviet forces to park philonazis or collaborators. From february to november 1945, 6.000 people were there and 1.855 died (1.600 because of typhus).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zgoda_labour_camp
All the people were freed in november.
Why ? if they were nazis or philonazis, why not trial them ?
Were those people known/proud philnazis ?

Thanks !

They were released because they were innocent, and were arrested because someone thought arresting suspicious Germans would be a good idea, so the secret police arrested randomly some people just to be done with it, and sometimes to stole their property.
Logic was never a strong point of the communists, but making a mess always.

Is it possible that among these 6000 people there were absolutely no collaborators ?

Maybe there were, but it was for courts to decide, in that case it was basically a communist purge of perceived enemies, and not even a good one.
