Hello, has someone heard about the following Ukrainian ex-Red Army officers, and POWs in Finland:
-Capt. Petr Pavlovich Yamchenko-Rybko (b. 29.6.1892), POW late-August 1941 at Viipuri (then Head of Intendent Service, 123.D). Cooperated with Finnish authorities, volunteered to form an Ukrainian legion in Finnish Army, not seen in Finland after 21.8.1944. Escaped to Western countries?
- Navy Liutenant Konstantin Ivanovich Ryabcheskiy (b. 12.4.1909), POW in Gulf of Finland near Hamina 15.8.1941. Cooperated with Finnish authorities, Assistant Editor of Severnoye Slovo -POW journal, went voluntarily to Germany 6.7.1943 with the intention to join Ukrainian (SS-?) unit. No further information.

I am grateful for any comments and hints.

Hi Geust,

I don't have information on the specific names, but there are some photos of the Ukrainian Legion in Finland. Founded by Geoge (Yuri) Horlis-Horsky in January 1940, it was formed from some Ukrainians who came over from Galicia (Members of Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists OUN) and some Ukrainian POW from the Red Army. In early March, it was active in Kareliaan peninsula, near lake Vuoksarvi between the villages Kiviniemi and Riitasaari. There were also some Ukrainian POW that joined the Finnish army and not the legion, they wore regular Finish army uniforms.

A detailed article in Ukrainian can be found here:
