Fate of the ROA officers

Post by Za Rus » 03 Oct 2022 21:19

I'm trying to find out what happened to the officers of the ROA that were extradited back to the Soviets? I see the trial of Vlasov and other 11 higher ranking members being executed by hanging on 1.8.46. I have pieced some of the other officers like Kostar, Bychkov, and Bezrodny being executed by firing squad.
Does anyone have a list or can direct me to find who else was executed? Did any get hard labor in a Gulag or was it just death?

I see Shapovalov was shot by Czech partisans on 8.5.45 and Boyarsky was hanged by them on 7.5.45.

Thank you

The best source is the book by Kirill Mihailovich Aleksandrov:
Офицерский корпус армии генерал-лейтенанта А. А. Власова 1944—1945, Посев, 2001. — 1120 с. — ISBN 978-5-85824-186-7;

updated by his voluminous doctoral disseration in 2016:

Генералитет и офицерские кадры вооруженных формирований Комитета освобождения народов России 1943–1946 гг. (1145 pages!), which can be downloaded:

Скачать диссертацию вы можете на сайте Диссертационного совета Санкт-Петербургского института истории РАН веб http://www.spbiiran.nw.ru или с сервера портала пдф, 4.8 MB

This dissertation was however not accepted for political reasons, and which caused a scandal in the Russian scientific world,
see eg. https://phdru.com/sciproblems/beregisstalinsokol/ and the article about Aleksandrov in Russian Wikipedia.
