Help with Dutch NSB Buckle

Post by afa485 » 15 Oct 2022 08:21

Dear Friends,

I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and opinions on the originality of this buckle, which appears to be a Dutch NSB enlisted man's issue buckle.. Apologies for the poor quality of the photographs.

Best regards as ever

Tony

Hello,

I don't know if it is real or not but it is not a Dutch NSB buckle. They never wore them (or show me a picture of it). It is a buckle from the Flemish militia the Dietse Militie/Zwarte Brigade. The militia of the VNV.

Greetings

Hello Wim,

Thanks for that interesting information. This is also the symbol used on NSB uniform badges and other items. There are many photos online of this symbol being used on NSB caps and the left arm of NSB uniforms. I also thought that the Flemish VNV badge was a triangle in a circle (as shown on the buckle in the attached photo) ? Could it be that the NSB and VNV both used the wolfs hook symbol on their badges ?

Best Regards

Tony

Hello Tony,

Yes both NSB and Flemish used the wolfshook as symbol.
But only the Flemish used it on the buckle.

The 2e buckle showing was for the uniformd VNV party members the wolfhook buckle was for the VNV party militia Dietse militie/Zwarte Brigade.

Here foto of one and wolfshook on the cap and wolfshook schield.

Many thanks Wim, that is very useful.

Many dealers sell these buckles (mostly reproductions) as Dutch NSB, although I have never seen one worn by the NSB - in photos they wear only the open claw buckles.

I have added you to my friends list and look forward to speaking with you again.

Best Regards

Tony

Hello Tony,

I unfortunatly have no clear picture of an DM/ZB member wearing such a buckle.
Some unclear pictures where you can guess it schould be that one.

But also most of the pictures that i have is with the zweidorn belt like the picture of the officer in the previous post.

The Flemish NSKK used the same wolfshook shield on the uniform.
This was because most of the 1st contigent Flemish NSKK members came from the Dietse Militie/Zwarte Brigade.
