Who is it ?
Hello,
this picture taken in France (maybe near Agen, South Western France) between 1942 and 1944 is mysterious. I think this German soldier is a Oberfeldwebel/Heer, or else an SS Hauptscharfuhrer but I'm not sure. The jacket is amazing, but it does have a Nazi eagle on the chest. The belt buckle is also an irrevocable testimony. The pants are amazing too. Can someone "make this image speak": what information should be removed?

Re: Who is it ?
out of shoulder rank insigna and belt, shirt (eagle printed) , trousers and scarf are not military. This seems to be a post war picture.
Best regards

The insignia does indeed indicate a Heer Oberfeldwebel and the photo does have a postwar (POW) vibe to it.

Changed some of the photo settings to see what might appear. Yes, he has or once had an eagle on his jacket

Hello
The belt buckle says "Gott Mit Uns"- it was a usual thing to add civilian clothes to the uniform late in the war.

He wears a canvas tropical belt, just like the neckerchief was common in Afrika Korps.
I think I've seen that type of shirt on personnel in the mechanical corps..
