Sorry,David, but i don't have names... i guess they survived the war,so in much french books ,their identity was protected.
About your ''malgre-nous'' compatriotes in the LSSAH,since they were considered Reichsdeutschen ,there is just no records. One of them was Marcel Boltz, who had to be judged by the americans about the shooting of Malmedy...but it was soon delivered to the french authorities....

(Like a lot of ''malgre-nous'' from the Das Reich were involved in the Oradour -sur -Glane affair.... wich blocked the post-war process in France,by the way...)

I meant at least a more accurate idea about their number ... since I know it is difficult with the one considered as Volksdeutsche.

Hello All,

I confirm a small number of Dutch volunteers serving in the LAH.
Among them SS-Oscha E.H. Ridder van Rappart and SS-Ustuf A. Nijland.

Regards,

Seyffardt

Ostuf Charlemagne wrote:It was also a rumanian officer , Obersturmfuehrer Nikolai. In the rumanian Navy ,he was a commander of a submarine in the Black Sea and torpedoed some russian ships there. When Rumania changed side in 1943 ,Nikolai joined the SS... he had some german blood ,so he was considered a Volksdeutsche. He committed suicide in April 1945 in the austrian town of Hainfeld.
For more infos, look in ''SS Panzergrenadier'' by Hans Schmidt.
(HS Publications. USA.2001)
The only Romanian submarine success during WWII was the damaging of the Kreml in 1941. The captain of the NMS Delfinul sub was Constantin Costachescu. No "Nikolai".
Btw, the year was 1944, not 1943

The two British men that Dan E. Moe said that served with the LAH were William Celliers from Nambia, and James Conen from London. Both were former POWs that joined up.

One one italian served in 13/1. , he later was assigned to 17/2.
He was never asked to go to italian ss division or HJ, as far as he know there were no other italians in KG Peiper than himself.

If I'm not mistaken there was one French-man convicted in the Malmédy Massacre trail. Probable a member of Kampfgruppe Peiper?

Not convicted at the trial. Marcel Boltz was handed over to French justice before the trial ended.

SS-Mann Collodi Pietro, born in Turin 1923 killed the 25 of dicember 1944 during the Ardenne offensive was in the Kg Peiper, in the Wittmann book pag.289 "Im Gesamtzeitraum der Normandiekaempfe wurden 17 italienische Hiwis und 4 italienische Freiwillige als vermisst gemeldet" (During the Normandie campaign the Abt. lost 17 italian Hiwis and 4 italian volunters as MIA). Benito S. still alive fought with the LAH from September 1943 until the end he is member of the TK of his unit.

I see on this picture of the SOMA archive that the Flemish SS-Kriegsberichter Raf van Hulse (right) is wearing the LAH symbol on his shoulders. On political base Raf van Hulse was a very imortant men in Flanders, he had the rank of Hauptsturmführer der Germanische SS und Oberscharführer (or Untersturmführer?) der Waffen-SS.
