I am sending you some original photos . You can see a B24 LIBERATOR and a Do 17, in Burgos (Villafria) airport, in the north of Spain. Some times, allied or German planes landed in Spanish airtports if they had problems. I know that the crew of the American plane (the one in the photo) were injured and most of them died in a Spanish hospital. I think the airplanes were kept by the Spanish government.

Superb photos Mikko! The German a/c is not a Do but a Ju 88. Am too lazy to look up my books but with it's 'solid nose' and apparently successful landing (no damages) i Burgos, perhaps is a long-range reconnaissance a/c for convoy spotting. The very wide (and late) 'paddle-blades' on the Ju 88 and the B 24 suggest pictures from early 1944.
Avenger II in Spain

From one of your photos I think I can give you some info. I read "Avenger" in the nose of the B-24. This is a B-24D-30-CO Liberator, USAAF serial number 42-40130.
The planne was part of 44th BG/66th Sq. and was interned in Spain on 17th May 1943. The plane had some problemswhen it was heading to Bordeaux in order to bomb German submarine base. The pilot decided to go to Spain and after looking for aplace to land he found and small airfield.

There were also other B-24s interned in Spain. SOme of them were interned in Spanish Morocco. Here you will find some data about one of these cases: http://www.458bg.com/crew18nedrow.htm/
Spanish Morocco was close to the South Atlantic route, used to transfer planes from USA to Europe and the Mediterranean. This way a PBY Catalina was interned and used by Spanish Air Force.
Some many other US planes arrived to Spain and were interned: A US Navy Avenger in Tarifa, some B-24s in Barcelona and Majorca, a pair of B-25s, some spitfires, etc.
