Germanys Spanish allies 1941-45 by John Scurr (Osprey) mentions that short gaiters were introduced from July 1941.

No mention if they were issued to the whole army or just the Germany bound volunteers.

John.

Any information about Flemisch in German service (Waffen SS, OT, NSKK, Kriegsmarine, DRK, ...) during WWII is welcome.

Based on this site http://www.ancientfaces.com/photo/loren ... pe/1251523 , the name of the famous Spanish fahnenträger is Lorenzo Brieba. Is this real? And also, what is the two medal visible in this picture (yellow and red one)?

I found article about Brieba here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cg ... d=94440784

The red one is the "Cruz al Mérito Militar con Distintivo Rojo"; the yellow one is the "Medalla de Mutilado de Guerra por la Patria".

Yes, many thanks Ironmachine! :)

Maybe you know when and where this pic was taken. Was it taken in Eastern Front?

I think this is just a (bad) joke.
First, as far as I can search there is a complete lack of references in Spanish in the web about this Lorenzo Brieba, supposed member of the Blue Division.
Then the article in http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cg ... d=94440784 does not make sense. It even contains some clear mistakes.
And finally the last photo, the old requeté with the medals, is not a "Lorenzo Brieba", but Juan Luis Pacheco Pérez:

Several threads dealing with Spaniards serving with the Wehrmacht/Waffen-SS have been merged into this one for easier reference.
