On your website you wrote that Razmik Nazarjan was Gruppenführer.
What kind of Gruf.? Not an SS one, i believe?
It would be nice if you could post a short bio of him.

Cheers,
Ivan

He was in France 1944, when from the part of his battlion II/9 was formed an SS company.

So, Nazarjan was an SS-Gruppenführer then?
Very interesting...
Any more info about him or SS-Verband "Armenien"?

Thanks,
Ivan

Just after the capturing by NKVD he told to Russians that he was a Gruppenfuhrer...
My opinion:
By the German order in 1945 he was just a Hauptmann of 2nd cavalry formation of Waffenverband SS "Armenien".
The commander of this formation as I said was Vardan Sarkissian - just Oberst.

Armenian SS formation fought against the Yugoslav and Slovenian partisans, also operated against Soviet troops in Austrian border.

OK, your oppinion on Nazarjan makes more sence.
But why would he say that he was an SS-Gruf. to Soviets? That sounds strange...
...but nevermind - and thanks for info.

Cheers,
Ivan

Usually Soviets executed members of SS without any delayes. As for members of wermacht, they took time to decide, either Gulag or central asia. For them # 1 enemy was any ex soviet (and specially nations of caucasus) who fought on the german side. Any hints of national conscience was a mortal denger for soviets.

Eduard,

What happened to Sarkisian after the war? Did you also read Solomon Teilirians trials in Germany?

However, have you some materials about? :D

Dear Eduard, I have full documents of his trials. There were three setions of his trials. They are very interesting. You can read what presecutor claimed, defence and Solomon himself. I'll email you.

Sarkisian was shot by Soviets?

Hello guys, this (and other threads focusing on Armenian units) is fascinating.

I have one question, and I think this place would be probably one of the best to ask. I was just given two blank dogtags (not real) and I want to get engraved on them something that an Armenian volunteer would have had serving in the, say, 812th Battalion. I have no idea if this question even makes sense to you guys who know about all this, let alone what the actual thing would be so any help is greatly appreciated. If you could just write out an example, or a real one (if that is not considered distasteful, I'm not sure), so I could have some sort of idea that would be really good.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
