Juanjo:

Not everyone on your list is Bosnian. The following are Croats:

- Bozidar DOBRINIC (note spelling of first name),
- Stjepan STOZIR
- Vladimir BIONDIC
- Mato JURKOVIC
- Josip MARKOVIC
- Ivan BOJKO
- Marijan BRODARIC
- Djuro GOLOB (note spelling of first name)
- Milivoj LISAC
- Zvonimir MARAS
- Slavko ORESIC
- Borislav SNIDARIC (note spelling of surname) - you also have this same person listed twice, once with the German version of his surname, i.e. "SCHNIDARIC"

Best regards,
Allen/

Hi Juanjo,

SS-Stubaf. Muhamed Hadziefendic (1898.-1942.) was commander of Domobran volunteer Regiment in Tuzla. He joined to Waffen-SS in May 1943, but he actually never served in 13th SS Division. He became ill and he spent a few months in hospital in Zagreb. In September 1943 he came back in Tuzla. He was killed by Partisans after they captured city next month.

Hasan Bajraktarevic, Husein Djozo, Muhamed Mujagic, Salih Sabanovic, Mustafa Hadzimulic, Haris Korkut, Halim Malkoc, Dzemal Ibrahimovic, Fadil Sirco, Ahmed Skaka and Osman Delic were Imams in Handschar Division. Osman Delic was my fellow-citizen. After war, he worked as teacher and educational inspector. He died eight years ago. His son is history teacher and president of local Association of antifascist citizens "Josip Broz Tito"! Well, nobody knows that his father was officer in Waffen-SS.

According to Yugoslav Commission for war-crimes investigation, these officers served in Handschar Division:

- Colonel Biscevic-beg (Husein-beg Biscevic)
- Major Dervis-beg CENGIC from Sarajevo,
- Captain Ahmed-beg CERIC,
- First Lieutenant TERZIC from Travnik,
- Lieutenant HASANBEGOVIC, and
- Lieutenant TIHIC, who was in "political detachment of Divisional Staff".

I obtained this name from former Ostuf. Cord-Henning Knospe in the early 1990s. However, I have never been able to find any other trace of this fellow. It is possible that Herr Knospe confused the name with a different officer (Envert AJANOVIC).
Juanjo wrote:BABORIC
Is this man's name BABOVIC? In any case, he deserted on the same day as DELIC.
Juanjo wrote:MARKOVIC
Deserted in 1944.
Juanjo wrote:PIO-ULSKI
Born 1918. Career military officer.Served in AA 13.
Juanjo wrote:DELIC
Imam DELIC deserted from the Handschar Division on 8 February 1945. It was said that he had marital problems. The other imams, as far as I know, are all dead. The last to die was Dzemal Ibrahimovic of Flak Abt. 13.
Juanjo wrote:FEHER
Veterniarian. Nothing else known.
Juanjo wrote:GOLOB
His first name is indeed Gjuro. He was a platoon commander in Rgt. 28 and was KIA on 10 April 1945.
Juanjo wrote:MALICBEGOVIC
I think he emigrated to South America after the war.
Juanjo wrote:MARAS
Served in Handschar, then Kama, and eventually the 31st SS Division. After the war, he became a medical doctor and entered the U.S. Army. He died earlier this year.
Juanjo wrote:SIRCO
Imam. Killed by the partisans in an ambush. I have heard that he was lured to the spot by a woman, but this is unknown.
Juanjo wrote:SKAKA
Imam of I/28. Recommended for EK II. Emigrated to Australia after the war. Deceased.
Juanjo wrote:SNIDARSIC
This is a strange case. He was apparently transferred to some sort of police organ shortly after his induction into the Waffen-SS.

I hope this helps!

George

Muhasilovic - Stubaf. Executed by the Ustasa in 1945.
Masic - Ustuf. Pz.Jg.Abt. 13. He died only a few years ago in Bosnia.
Alimajstorovic - Ostuf. San. Abt. 13. Died 14 April 1944 in an accident at Brcko. Buried with military honors (I have a picture from his funeral).

Hi George:

Both "Dj" and "Gj" are anglicized or germanicized spellings of the Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian letter "đ". I believe the soldier's name was đuro Golob, and since "đ" doesn't exist in German it was changed in documentation to "Gj". It would be more correct, though, to spell it "Dj" - it more closely approximates the sound of "đ".

Hope this helps.

Hello George,
Can't find anything extra about Cord-Henning Knospe, not in my files, not on this forum and not on the internet.
Could you please give me some more details about this person???
Things like DoB/birthplace, ranks and SS-number/partynumber would be very much appreciated.

Greetings,
Mike
