Re: Bosnian SS Officers
Can somebody here help me with the identification of this officer?
Is he a Bosnian officer or not?

Re: Bosnian SS Officers
Is haznadar really bosnian? Interesting how he's wearing the SS runes (which was prohibited to be worn by the non Germans?) instead of the handschar collar patch insignia

Re: Bosnian SS Officers
Hello Kurts.,
his first name, "Asim" is a Bosniak/Bosnian Muslim name. Regarding the SS runes, my educated guess would be that the photo was taken before the divisional collar patch was issued to the men.

Anyone have more info on Imam and Ustuf Salih SABANOVIC? (death date, post war fate assuming he survived, etc) i believe he was imam of the handschar reconnaissance battalion.

Re: Bosnian SS Officers
Hello (again) Kurts.,
the Imam Academy in Zagreb educated Salih Sabanovic. In 1943, he joined the “Handschar”. He had a part to play in Munich after 1945 as the so-called "volunteer movement," which also included former Nazi combatants from the SS and Wehrmacht, planned to build the Freimann Mosque (for the Muslims from Munich and in particular, former Muslim Waffen-SS members).
