Kuban-Kosaken-Kavallerie-Regiment 1
My understandig so far was, that the term Kosaken-KAVALLERIE
was not used before Autumn or Winter 1944.
The usual term till that was either Ost-Reiter-Abteilung or better Kosaken-Abteilung or Kosaken-Reiter-Abteilung.

The only doubled named units I have found were:
Kuban-Kosaken-Regiment 5
Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 5 (=Don-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 5)
Sorry, at themoment I don't have any other doubled but different units found.

Kauk. Kav. Abt. (SS-Staf K. Ulagaj) [?]
SS-Staf Ulagaj was according my source (the same as the KalmKavRgt 9 & Obst Hoerst) the CO of the whole Waffen-Gruppe der SS "Nordkaukasus".

For the Kaukasische-Kavallerie-Abteilung I have a different name:
General Fürst Sultan Klyč, Girej

So, in fact, these are regiments of the Stan.

If You look closely at the numbers, these are all four regiments of the later 1. Kos Plastun Div, plus two other regiments as reinforcements.

Michi wrote:Is the Kazačij stan of the

the same Cossacks Tabor (Camp) unit as of the
Ataman Domanov, Timofej Ivanovič??
Domanov was the commander of the camp after the death of Ataman Pavlov.
Krasnov was the president of the central Cossack administrative (GUKV), the de facto Cossack "president". He only stayed in the camp.
There was one Cossack Tabor/Camp/Stan only.

I've got a huge file with all different Cossack units, but it's scrambled and in several different languages so I'll try and post the info one by one.

After having no luck with the 2. Kauk Kos Brig, how about this unit?

Kuban-Kosaken-Kavallerie-Regiment 1
Formed between 12-20/2/43 near Berdyansk from Kuban Cossack volunteers. Was commanded by army foreman I. I. Salomah (appointed Marching Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Army on 20/2/43), had 960 men. During 3/43 was included in the 1. Cossack Division.

Any further info on this unit? Which regiment did it become in the 1. Kos Div? What was the fate of Salomah?

Abel and Phil,
not Salomah but Salomaha Ivan Ivanovitch. By ny source (A. K. Lenivov, Pod Kazatchim znamenem, München 1970) Salomaha became appointed by Germen Marching Ataman of the Kuban Cossack's 26.01.1943.

Any infos on a
Kosaken-(Reiter/Schutzmannschaften-)Abteilung 428 ??

I have two sources of this unit.

One says it was a units with the 1. KosKavDiv from Winter 1944/45. (in connection with the KosSchumaAbt 69)
The only other source about this unit says it was in a combined battlegroup of hotchpotch troops of Luftwaffe-ground units and others.

Have a look at both maps here:

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=90556

They show some Cossacks-Units which I didn't have seen offside these maps.

Excellent information, Jarek.

It was always my understanding that the 3. Kos.Div. was a "paper" division that did not complete formation before the war ended. Does you source suggest otherwise? Did the 3. Kos.Div. succeed in forming up and entering battle before the war ended?

KosRtrBrig Turkul' [May 1945]

Kosaken-Reiter-Brigade "Turkul'"
Kdt/ CO: Generalmajor/ Major General Turkul', Anton Vasil'evič
insgesamt 5500 Mann
Otdelnyj korpus v sostave Vooruzhennyh Sil KONR v Zalcburge (Independent Corps in Armed Forces of KONR in Salzburg)

Adjutant – first lieutenant S. I. Afanasjev
CiS – Major General V. V. Von Krejter
CiSMajor General V. V. Von Krejter
Major General von Krejter, V. V. was according my sources the Hauptbevollmächtigter des KONR in der Ostmark. (~ Main authorized of the KONR in Austria)
1. Regiment
Kdt/ CO: Oberst/ Colonel Kržižanowskij
HQ: Linz
Otdelnyj Polk (Independent Regiment)
HQ –Linz
CO – Colonel Krzhizhanovskij or Kržižanowskij
2. Regiment "Varjag"
Kdt/ CO: Oberst/ Colonel Semenew
HQ: Ljubljana
Polk “Varjag” (Regiment “Varjag”)
HQ – Ljubliana
CO – Colonel Mihail A. Semenev
CO I battalion – Major A. Orlov
CO II battailon – Najor Osterman
CO GrW kompanie – Major A. D. Shilenok
3. Regiment
Kdt/ CO:
HQ: Villach
Svodnyj Pehotnyj Polk (Mixed Infantry Regiment)
HQ - Villach
CO- Colonel Vasilij A. Kardakov
CO of battalion – Captain V. N. Bushkov
Don-Kosaken-Regiment
Kdt/ CO: Generalmajor/ Major General Borodin S. K.
Otdelnyj Kasačij Regiment (Independent Cossacks Regiment)
CO – Major General Sysoj K. Balabin
Balabin must be incorrect.
His first names are E. I. .
Lieutenant General Balabin, E. I. and Major General Abramow, F. F. were the first cossack generals to change to the KONR, in November 1944.
He was later part of the headquarters of the KONR.

Yes Mitchi, sorry, my mistake.

Correctly:
Otdelnyj Kasačij Regiment (Independent Cossacks Regiment)
CO Sysoj K. BORODIN not Balabin.

Biographies Cossack's officers under link: http://www.e-journal.ru/time-st1-6.html (in russian):

Abramov Fiodor F. (23.12.1870 stanitsa Mitiankinskaja - 9.03.1963 Lakewood, NJ)
In 2 ww - from December 1944 - May 1945 staff Armed Forces of KONR and from 28 March - May 1945 in Advice of Cossack's Armies at Lieutenant-General A. A. Vlasov.

Balabin Evgenij I. (22.12.1879 - 27.10.1973 Vienna)
In 2 ww - Ataman of "All-Cossack's association in the German Empire, Slovakias and Hungary" (1940 - 45); in the staff of Cossack's troops with the staff ROA (December 1944 - May 1945); in Advice of Cossack's Troops at Lieutenant-General A. A. Vlasov (28.03. - May 1945).

I have found some additional Cossacks Regiments in the beginning of their time-line (November 1942 till August 1943)

Kosaken-Regiment Jungschulz
Kdt: ObstLt Jungschulz von Roebern, Werner Johann
was renamed into Kosaken-Regiment Sswodno/Sswodnyi, later into Kuban-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 3.

Kosaken-Regiment Lehmann
Kdt: ObstLt Lehmann
A ObstLt Lehmann was successor of ObstLt Jungschulz von Roebern with commanding the Kuban-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 3.

Kosaken-Regiment Wolff
Kdt: OberstLt Freiherr von Wolff, Hans or Paul
Hans Freiherr von Wolff was commanding the Kosaken-Reiter-Brigade Don I.
Paul Freiherr von Wolff was commanding the Kuban-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 4.

Kosaken-Regiment Platow
Kdt: Major Thomsen, Edgar
One source says it became the Ural-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 2, the later Sibir-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment 2.

Kosaken-Regiment 6
Kdt: ObstLt von Renteln, Wilhelm
was later split into independent battalions 622 & 623 & a company 638
was later brought together again to form the Kosaken-Festungs-Grenadier-Regiment 360.

So few questions came into my mind:

a.) Units
1.) Fate of Kosaken-Regiment Lehmann??
2.) Fate of Kosaken-Regiment Wolff??
3.) Fate of Kosaken-Regiment Platow?? (if above is incorrect)

b.) Commanding Officers
4.) ObstLt Lehmann.
What was he doing between dissolution of KosRgt Lehmann and becoming CO of KubanKosRtrRgt 3??
5.) OberstLt Freiherr von Wolff.
Who of the Wolffs did command the KosRgt Wolff.
6.) Major Thomsen, Edgar.
What was the fate of Major Thomsen?? (Although he was commanding a KosRgt Platow, I can't find him on three officer lists -which I have of the 1. Kosaken-Division and XV. Kosaken-Kavallerie-Korps.

3.) Fate of Kosaken-Regiment Platow?? (if above is incorrect)
Last mentioned on 23 May 1943 when it was released by 17. Armee for movement to Crimea and on to Mielau/Poland - strength this date: 114 Germans and 818 Cossacks. On arrival at Mielau (according to Tessin) it was to become 2. Kosaken-Reiter-Rgt., but this did not occur; instead, it became the leichte Kosaken-(Plastun) Abt. 2 with effect from 17 June 1943.

[Sources: Tessin - XIV:201; Kannapin; NARA WashDC: RG 242 (T-311 roll 151 frame 312].

No information on Lehmann and Wolff. No mention of Regimenter by this name in the records of 17. Armee in Nord-Kaukasien.

I quote Col. (ret.) von Kalben, Heinrich-Detloff about the formation of the 1st Cossack-Division:
Complete Cossack-units came from the Heeresgruppe Süd: Cossack-Regiment Lehmann and Cossack-Regiment Jungschulz.
Complete Cossack-units came from the Heeresgruppe Mitte: Cossack-Regiment Wolff and Cossack-Battalion 600.

Do you have any infos about Major Thomsen, Edgar ??
