The article that I used as source adds little more about Benno Epner, as the main interest of the author is Degrelle. It says that Benno Epener was a non-commissioned officer, 31 years old, married, and from Kolboormor. Function unknown, maybe he was the navigator.
After reaching Spain, the British and U.S. embassies asked insistently for the four members of the crew to be given to the Allies, but it never happened. In the Archivo Histórico of the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores there is a copy of telegram sent by the Director General de Política Exterior del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores to the Director General de Seguridad in which he says that in the next batch of German subjects sent to Germany they should be included, and the copy had a hand-written note stating that "Mr. Consuegra tells by telephone that they escaped from Molinar de Carranza and they did not know where they are. 26-08-46". It is possible that they were still there, or that they had already gone to America with false documents. It is verified that Albert Duhinger later lived in Argentine, flying as pilot in an airline.
That's all that is included in the article.
Regards.

Chris Sykes wrote:Dear Eddy,

Sorry for the late reply. As promised, here is the text typed on something like school paper:

"Kampfgruppe Ruelle

Do you known what O.U. stands for? A place name most probably.

Chris
Hi Chris!

O.U stand for Orts Unterkunft/Unbekannt

Can anyone tell me where degrelle's flight to Spain originated from exactly?
Did it land or refuel at Tonder in Denmark?

Thanks.

AFAIK, they took off from Oslo, and made no stops until the plane crashed in Spain.

With regard to whom accompanied L. Degrelle on his escape to Spain, apart from the German crew only Walloon Robert DuWelz accompanied him. Duwelz died in Spain after the war. Charles Generet accompanied Degrelle as far as Copenhague, then quit there and managed to join the French Foreign Legion. He was killed in Indochina.

I found these on a Degrelle.de site. Interesting that the HE 111 (if that's what it is) on the ground has the registration CN - something . Also Speer’s pilot was Major Erich Adam and he flew the Heinkel TQ + MU to Neiubiberg on April 21 1945. Where it appears to have stayed (CG Sweeting- "Hitler's squadron". )
The Heinkel Degrelle flew was just one of a number of aircraft in Speer's organisation.
Also can anyone identify De Grelle from the first 'photo? Is he the man on the far scree right wearing a white scarf?
Still interested to know if anyone has heard of it diverting to Tonder (former Zeppelin base) in Denmark on the way .
Thanks

NO - No TK Honor ring awarded (source: John Moore's "Führerliste") - personnel file Léon Degrelle.
