Very great pictures indeed, it was nice watching them all.

But I've a question for Askold.
Who are the officers show in Lysiak2.jpg, 18mod.jpg, ek9.jpg, ek6.jpg, ek10.jpg, e7.jpg, col3.jpg and in 281.jpg???

Thank you,
Mike

I know this question is bit out of thread but I would like to ask if somebody knows something about parts of 14th SS Galizien which were at the end of war in Central Bohemia. According to Czech books special unit (Sonderkommando?) of Waffen SS named Florian were based in city of Kolín, Central Bohemia at the end of war. Part of this special unit in strength of 3 to 4 thousands soldiers should be some units from Galizien as well. Co should be Obersturmbannführer Pauli. Is it possible to prove this information? Does anybody know more?

Thanks for reply

Mikedc:

Unfortunately I don't know the names, accept for the first one - he's last name is Lysiak.

Jakub:

Perhaps you're thinking of Florian Geyer division? I don't know of any Galicia units fighting in Bohemia, however 2nd div. UNA (Brigade Free Ukraine) was part of German forces trying to put down the Prague Upprising. The unit later got encirlced and only few managed to break out.

Cheers

Thanks for so quickly response. You could be right that it was Florian Geyer Division. I didn´t know that 2nd Div UNA fought against Prague uprising. Where is possible to read something about this event and about 2nd Div UNA? Is it known where 2nd Div UNA was based at the beginning of May 1945?

Thanks a lot again for this excellent informations.

Just a small caution and warning notice to all of you guys, I recently heard on TV that the Australian Government is undertaking investigations into former members of 14 WSS who currently reside in Australia and may have been involved in war crimes as accused by the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Russia and certain individuals.

The Australian Government takes these matters seriously by passing laws many years ago to specificaly to deal with German war crimes, not Japanese war crimes and has undertaken or started actions to deport former members of the WSS to European countries that have made accusations against certain surving individuals, some of these elderly men have died while trying to defend the deportation.

Hello
I will try again with some photos for you:

C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\afa.jpg

sorry about the quality - as I experiment with the scanner the image quality should improve;

From top to bottom - left to right:
top left - officers school (I thinks its AROLSEN from memory)
Top right Ukr Officer with Uk NCO Neuhammer May 1944
Commander of School Arolsen with his deputy
3 day training Heidelager
Flame-thrower demonstration during exercises at the 12.Kriegs-Reserve-Junker-Lehrgang an der SS-Pz.Gren.Schule Kienschlag.
Uk Officer : Waffen-Untersturmführer Dyhdalewysch. One of the best Ukr Officers from the Pi batln. He died when his swimwagen recived a direct hit from a tank during the battle of Brody
Ukr officer candidates from Pioneer school

more to come

more pics:

Ukrainian officers / and officer candidates.
grave of Ukr with Trident emblem - the germans hated this and officially it was banned until 1945, but as with many other things had to tolerate it.
The middle shot shows the commander of the school at AROLSEN addressing the school

bottom shows same Ukrainian wearing blank collar patch, SS runes and lion device. Dont believe the rubbish about foregin nationals NOT wearing the SS runes. Hundreds of Ukrs from this div were issued with a wore the SS runes.

I will try and find some more interesting shots

ok the quality is bad - I will see what I can do about that later.

Ukr Officer candidates (they all graduated) at REICHENBERG June 1944
left-right
UHRUSKY, TROCH, YURKEVYCH, LOBACH, BIHUS, KHILOWSKY

Troch recived the EK in Austria. Not many Ukrainians did and as a rule the awarding of this type of decoration was highly disproportionate. Germans from this unit always got decorations - however dubious their respective parts were in the various actions. The Ukrs seldom got what they deserved. Anther good example of how retarded the German superiority philosophy was.

Stnd-Oberjukr CHMOLA. later became Waffen-untersturmfuehrer.

bye for now see what I can find later
