I was talking about retreating, not surrendering. :wink: Personally, no, I wouldnt hightail if I would be a commander of Tiger II tanks and some patatroopers are attacking our positions without AFV support. I would take the risk.

But we're not really interested in what you would have done, are we? No doubt you would have been a hero. :wink:

Fact is that an expensive tank as the Tiger II was to be used in the role it was designed for, i.e. tank combat, and not as a mobile pillbox in a defensive battle in a destroyed village full of rubble, especially if the enemy has taken the initiative and your infantry support is retreating. Save the armour for another day!

I doubt that wasting tax money would have earned you the Knight's Cross...

Nothing to do with the defending of Foy, but ironically, my grandfather was in Foy during WWII for the Americans and my maiden name is Foy.
