Could someone tell me more about this? I am positive that railway guns were used to shell areas in southmost Britain.

As far as I know - they only had one railway-gun with that capacity - the 21 Cm K 12.
Ian Hogg writes that a German shell landed at Rainham (near Chatham) in Kent in late 1940. The point of impact was 88 kilometres from the nearest point on the French coast. There were similar fragments of shells - recovered from areas of Dover and Eastbourne....cheers, Varjag

Hi All

According to this German document the 28 cm K 5
(E) could also reach a small part of Britain .
The gun were grouped in Stab z.b. V. Stocker .
Date from the document is 21-07-1942 .

Bombardment of Dover coast by K5/28cm railway guns started on August 12, 1940. And from December 1940, Germans used K12/21cm guns that reached Kent coast.

I have color photos of K5/28cm and K12/21cm German railway guns firing toward British coast.

Here we go again...I think that Kim's colour picture is a K5(E), not the K 12, Varjag
