Hi Harry, wonderful stuff, interesting parallels to the USAEUR Historical Section manuscripts.

I would be very interested in reading Geyr's two-part article on Normandy as a counterpart to Ruge's article.

Thanks

Hi Rich, that article already posted, you should find it here
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=124240

These German generals were debriefed by by the USAEUR Historical Section, but the "Cosantoir" articles were their first detailed accounts in the public domain.

Thanks very much Harry.

Yes, in some cases you have the feeling that the USAREUR accounts were limited in some sense to much to just "the facts" and inadvertantly thus edited out some of the "opinion" (and backbiting) that appear in the "Cosantoir" articles.

That IS an interesting debate between Ruge and von Schweppenburg, isn't it?

Yes, especially since I'm not sure that either was being completely honest (Ruge probably wasn't in on some of the conferences he claims he was or was even privy to some of this debate at the time, while it is quite possible that Geyr at the time was actually fixated on responding to a massive Allied verticle envelopment than on defeating a seaborne landing)?
