Until December 1943, 3./Flak.Abt.931 was in position on and around Cean. I know that this battery was not destroyed in Cherbourg like the rest of the Abteilung. Where was our battery stationed until the disembarkation ??

Hello.
These are campaign positions (field works) established after the landing. Indeed, the Wn 121 and 122, first links of the antiaircraft chain of the Luftwaffe for Caen and Flughafen Carpiquet are established further west between Longueval and the hamlet of Beauregard. It would therefore be necessary to inquire about contributions that occurred after June 6. Installation of a battery H.Flak.Abt.305?, Or le.Flak.Abt.996? See others like Kampfgruppen Von LUCK?

On June 12th only 4 emplacements are there compared to the 6 on June 15th. During GOODWOOD (18/7/44)this area was traversed by 3rd RTR (on the west side)and they make no mention of any fire from this position. They specifically note fire coming from Le Mesnil Frementel to their left and from the villages to the front.

Morning Michael, do you have aerial photos prior to June 6 but from 1944 on the following areas:
_ Caen Castle, north-western outskirts of the city (St Germain la Blanche Herbe), Carpiquet and its aerodrome, hamlet of Marcelet, Verson.
A big list that is like a Christmas wish in July !!! It's all about German strong points in and around Caen.
Merci beaucoup
Romain

On the last picture, you can see the Widerstandsnester 137, 138, 141, 142 and the abandoned Stützpunkt Rots-Süd.
