US Army Military Railroad Operation In France - 1944
This is a duplicate of the post I placed in the website's section ‘USA 1919 - 1945. I’ve duplicated it to aid researchers who may not see the original one.
The attached article describes the operation of the US Army's 2nd Military Service (M.R.S) and several of its attached Railroad Operating Battalions in France during the 1944 period. The original article was printed in the January 20, 1945 edition of the USA magazine 'Railway Age’ which was the main USA railroad industry publication.
Due to the site’s limitation of the attachment file size I had to break up each page into separate attachments. This post contains the first attachment of the first page. I will post the remaining attachment to it and the remaining pages in a separate posts shortly.
Some of the content of this article was reprinted in General Carl Gray’s book about the US Army’s WW2 Military Railroad Operations titled 'Railroading In Eighteen Countries’.

When LST 21 opened it's big mouth to spit out tanks, sometimes it was railroad cars.
