40:00-1:15:00 is mostly about the bulge and the lecturer goes onto claim, verbatim, that the 82nd Airborne Division “destroyed” the 1st SS, 2nd SS, 9th SS Divisions in December 1944 and the 62nd VG division too, he even specifically states that the 1st and 2nd SS had be withdrawn from combat and didn’t see further action in the Bulge.
Obviously that’s absurd, since all those SS divisions saw major action in the January 1945 fighting in the Ardennes. I know there is a tendency for American unit histories to erroneously claim they “destroyed” German units, but you think claiming the destruction of THREE SS Panzer Divisions in basically a week of fighting would have given this man, who wrote the official history for the 82nd AB according to the lecture, pause for thought.
