The attached article discusses how the US Army 18th Field Artillery Battalion fought an infantry action to stem a Wehrmacht counterattack upon crossing into Belgian.

The article was printed in the May 1945 edition of the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.

Properly led or trained artillery batteries can be dangerous formations to attack. The cannon crews are drilled to go into action quickly, they usually have a fair number of automatic weapons in hand, and the vehicles make good emergency cover. God help you if they get the cannon in action.
