D-Day Landings

#1

Post by seele02 » 04 Jun 2004, 21:28

Hi, because D-Day comes nearer and nearer I became very interested in that topic. My questions are: Does anyone have any exact maps wich show what units landed where? I dont mean the divisions...I mean the units that entered the ebaches first, what bataillons or regiments were that, and how many men were in one landing boat? Was it a half platoon or less? Do you have any exact info about how many men died directly o the beaches? Not behind the beach...just on the sand or in the water!

Thanks in advice!

If http://search.eb.com/normandy/ doesn't have the answer, do a google search.

It took 6 LCVP (Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel) to land 1 infantry company on average. Each boat held 30 men
