hi,

opening the garden gate for further apple harvest ... for me or others ...

the officer is Wolfgang Falck, he commanded I./ZG 1 in the spring of 1940, later, in the fall, the NJG 1

translating Waleed´s "wing" into a German air force "Gruppe", the a/c should belong to I/ZG 1.

landing in Sweden during WESERÜBUNG can be excluded as all targets were West of Swedish territory ... hmmm ...

greetings, the pb

Falck, I/ZG 1, spring 1940, Weserübung and not Sweden... all correct.

Engine problems was the reason for landing where it did.

You couldn't be more right!

It probably landed circa 1 km or less from where I live :D
Skejby is a village and suburb about 6 km north of the centre of Aarhus.
At the time it was nearly all fields. Nearby there was also large military training area
and (where I suspect it landed) a small air field used mostly for gliders and other small aircraft.
Today most of this is part of Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby, either as buildings or parking lots.
What's left of the training area is still an interesting spot. I've been lucky to find lots of leftovers
from the Wehrmacht days and what might interest you... Tauchretter parts!
But that's a different story and irrelevant to the quiz :D

hi,

after consideration, it seems that I have to continue ... :)

a second try - after my failure with the He 111 Z - with a text question ...

more than ten (10) Luftwaffe NCOs got a Knight´s Cross for performing successfully a task which you couldn´t deduce from their official "job title" ...

what was the task and what was the job title ?

for our more picture-oriented quizzers - a slightly bent  hint :milwink:

greetings, the pb

hi,

a last-day-of-the-year hint:

flying personnel in a certain environment, they got their awards for their share in victories others were officially credited with ...

Hello!
As a variant - radar operators on night fighters?

Best regards, Aleks

hello, Aleks,

not a variant ... that´s right !

the official job title was "Bordfunker" or "wireless operator" - in the nightfighter he was (additionally) responsible for
(1) the radar detection and guidance towards the target (bomber) until visually sighted by the pilot
(2) the navigation by electronic bearings

can you decrypt the "hint" ? ... :milwink:

anyway : over to you !

greetings and my best wishes to you for the New Year,
