From AOK6/OQu to 1)OKH /Gen.OQu
2) Command center B OKH/Gen.Qu
3) chief of staff AOK 6

Point 1 of day report 28.10.1942

Unchanged high firing.
Railway supply is not sufficient to cover the firing in all categories of ammo. Lack of 8 cm Wgr and ammo for 21 cm Mörser.
Fuel situation still tight. Especially notable lack of Diesel.
Because of the still not sufficient capacity of the Loshki- Gumrak broad gauge line, which is exposed to daily disruptions, the column capacity is not sufficient to satisfy the daily needs of the troop.
It is therefore requested to again strengthen the column capacity of the Army to spare the troop the far roads for the fetching of supply goods and through this give it the possibility to still bring in supply goods from its collection areas."

Point 1 of day report 29.10.1942

Firing unchanged high. The train inflow was again fully unsufficient. Again fuel nor food arrived.
The shortage in several categories of ammo-above all 8cm grenades- increases. In the last 10 days the volume of firing was 1000 to higher than the ammo inflow. Especially difficult will be the situation with heavy infantry weapons where almost nothing arrived in the last days.
The Army again requests urgently to reinforce the inflow of ammo. In the main ammo categories(l.F.H 18, s.F.H)fast inflow of new ammo is also necessary.
Fuel could not be issued to the troop today.
The inflow of trains with rations does not correspond- especially given also the necessary supplying- to the needs of the Army."

Point 1 of day report 30.10.1942

Volume of firing as on earlier days.
The inflow of trains on the main supply line has further decreased.
The reported trains only come very slow and can only negligibly improve the tight supply situation in many areas.
The Army again points out insistently that serious crisises must happen when the inflow of trains is not fundamentally improved in the near future."

Point 1 of day report 31.10.1942

Volume of firing lower because of lack of ammo.
No ammo train arrived on the unloading stations of the Army on 31.10.
The insufficient ammo supply makes extreme economy also necessary in the attack on Stalingrad. Starting deficiency also at s.F.H . Fast delivery of ammo is urgent.
Fuel situation slightly better because of the arrival of 2 fuel trains(one train only300 cbm). Fundamental improvement only possible after arrival of several trains.
Still tight food situation which will probably be improved by the arrival of a food train on 1.11 in Tschir. .
Because of light rainfall in the night to 31.10 , the column traffic was somewhat delayed. In the night 30/31.10 heavy bombing attack on AML Karpowka. Only light damage despite the dropping of many explosive and fire bombs."

Point 1 of day report 1.11.1942

Less firing because of diminishing ammo stocks.
Again on 1.11 no ammo trains arrived.The stocks of the Army omninously diminish further . It is urgently necessary that there is at last an acceleration in the arrival of ammo trains.The situation of the Army does not admit a further delay of the ammo inflow.
Fuel situation somewhat relaxed. Food situation further tight."

Point 1 of day report 2.11.1942

Firing as on earlier days.
At the time still deficiency in the main categories of ammo.
The Army hopes to gain cinnection again by the arrival of an l.F.H train to Tschir and a s.F.H. train to Tinguta on 03.11.
The fast inflow of the trains that are still moving up remains further especially important.
Fuel situation somewhat better.
Food situation still tight."

I summarized the data so far.

1) for the month of July (1942):

(reliable data for 24 days on POL consumption and 17 days on ammunition consumption)

a) total POL consumption (cbm): 25223;
a1) daily average rate of POL consumption (cbm): 1050,95;
b) total ammunition consumption (t): 3430;
b1) daily average rate of ammunition consumption (t): 201,76;
c) sum of a1) & b1) (assuming, like the German logisticians did, that 1 cbm = 1 ton; see T311 R216): 1252,72 [t].

2) for the month of August (alongside October, the most complete recorded month):

(reliable data for the whole month on POL consumption and 29 days on ammunition consumption)

a) total POL consumption (cbm): 21549;
a1) daily average rate of POL consumption (cbm): 695,12;
b) total ammunition consumption (t): 10465;
b1) daily average rate of ammunition consumption (t): 360,86;
c) sum of a1) & b1): 1055,99 [t].

3) for the month of September:

(reliable data for 15 days on both POL and ammunition consumption)

a) total POL consumption (cbm): 8823;
a1) daily average rate of POL consumption (cbm): 588,2;
b) total ammunition consumption (t): 8185;
b1) daily average rate of ammunition consumption (t): 545,66;
c) sum of a1) & b1): 1133,86 [t].

4) for the month of October:

(reliable data for the whole month on both POL consumption and ammunition consumption)

a) total POL consumption (cbm): 16515;
a1) daily average rate of POL consumption (cbm): 532,74;
b) total ammunition consumption (t): 19412;
b1) daily average rate of ammunition consumption (t): 626,19;
c) sum of a1) & b1): 1158,93 [t].

Curio:
I) the day with the highest registered POL consumption was July 2nd with 1920 cbm.
II) the day with the highest registered ammunition consumption was October 14th with 1300 metric tonnes.
