Could anyone explain the term "Fall Weiß" to me? I have heard it used in reference to the phony war of 1940, but I would like to know more about it.

Fall WeiB (literally Case White - means Operation White) was the German attack on Poland.

Your ref to the so called "Phoney War" relates to the period between the end of the Campaign in Poland and the attack in the West when on the whole there was little or no major activities by either side, especially on the land.
