Not much for 1.Panzer Armee; a lot more for 6.Armee

Does he have similar lists for AOK 11 & 17. That would give me a framework for Army Group South during the first year of the war.

In reply to the original posts. Here is part of the Ost Lage map of 06.10.1941
071041 North-South II (part).jpg
it does a good job of showing the general course of the operation. The pocket started forming around the 4th of October and was dispersed by about the 8th of October. I don't have all the records and couldn't find any summation of the prisoners and captured material taken in the pocket. The XXX.A.K. mentions taking about 15,000 prisoners around this time and the 1.Panzer-Armee took about 17,000 between the 2nd and 9th October and another 13,000 on the 11th October. A figure of 100,000 prisoners total might have been possible. Another Ost Lage map around this times have the pocket containing 10 Rifle Divisions.

- Mogilev pocket, July 1941 (probably lumped with Smolensk)
- Chernigov pocket, early September (probably lumped with Kiev)
- Luga pocket, August 1941
There are some other minor ones.
Hi, battle of Luga is same as battle of Straya Russia which I asked you before ?

The pocket of Luga was formed by elements of the Panzer Group 4 and 16 Army around general Astanin's group aka 41 Rifle Corps with several divisions. See the situation map from August 31:

The German army claimed about 20 thousand prisoners taken.

Hi, Art, thank a lot for your data.

BTW, regarding Chernigov, I see Fuller book : Decisive battles of the Western World chapter on battle of Moscow mentions 2. Armee attacked Chernigov, so is it considererd as part of battle of Kiev ? Are those units being attacked were from newly built 38th and 40th Armies ?

T313 R3 Fr648 Part.jpg

It is part of a map from the records of the 1st Panzer Army (NARA T314 R3 Fr648). What is the name of the encirclement battle shown on the map? In German it says, "Battle of the Sea of Azov."
Hi, Jeff and other members, in general, history books mention Soviet casualties of the battle of the Azov Sea : 106,365 POW, 212 tanks and 672 guns or just 107,000 men.

But I also see another figures on battle of the Azov Sea : 64,325 POW, 126 tanks and 519 tanks by Oct 11 1941. That mean some 42,040 POW more , from battle of Petrikova by Italian Motorized corps ?

So exactly what is offical data on the casualties of Soviet 9th and 18th Armies from German side on battle of the Azov Sea ?

Sorry, I don't have any better figures than you have access to. My guess from the figures you give is that one set includes is based on a larger action than the other.

Hi, Jeff, you are probably right, the battle of Azov includes other battles in this areas. But this battle I think were top five battles always mentioned in Barbarossa campaign.
