In August-September 1943, the 33rd Army ( Colonel-General Gordov) conducted the operation "Suvorov" (the operation for the liberation of Smolensk). In the course of carrying out this operation only in the band of the army it was revealed (according to documents of the department of completion and the formation of the 33rd army) a large number military mens ( including more than 5,000 officers), who could not break out of encirclement in the summer of 1941 and was not part of the guerrilla groups. Some of them were included in the composition of the divisions of 33rd army. Accurate data I have.
