5 Army as of 1.09.41:
15 Rifle Corps (45, 62 Rifle Divisions), 31 Rifle Corps (193, 195, 200 Rifle Divisions), 1 Airborne Corps (1, 204 Airborne Brigades), 9 Mechanized Corps (20, 35 Tank Divisions), 22 Mechanized Corps (19, 41 Tank Divisions), 131 Rifle Division, 215 Motorized Division, 5 Fortified Region, also a number of separate units. "Tank" and "mechanized" were nothing but token names by that moment. Personnel strength on 1 September:
HQ 5 Army - 1961 men
HQ 15 RC - 1422
45 RD - 9510
62 RD - 8570
HQ 31 RC - 1729
193 RD - 6380
195 RD - 5736
200 RD - 6732
215 RD - 5228
131 RD - 4663
HQ 9 MC - 684
20 TD - 2843
35 TD - 3091
HQ 22 MC - 910
19 TD - 2693
41 TD - 2430
HQ 1 ABC - 353
1 ABBr - 1734
204 ABBr - 831
Various artillery units - 11 906 men
About 77 500 men in battle units/96 000 total

The pocket itself contained 45 and 62 RD from the 15 Rifle Corps and 193, 195, 200, 215 Divisions from the 31 Rifle Corps.

Hi, Art, thank so much for those extreme detail on 5th Army OOB, many thank.

Is it considered a part of battle of Kiev as 5th Army was one of units encircled in Kiev cauldon ? Or they suffered heavily in Chernigov and then finally annhilated in another battle at Kiev with other three armies ? Thank.
