Hi, I would like to ask if Italian Fast troop (3rd Cavlary division and 9 and 52 autotransportable divisions ) took part in battle of the Azov in Oct 1941 ? The destruction of Soviet 74 and 230 RD were by those Italian units ? Thank.

Hello, Art, thank so much for your information and maps.

In accordance with the map, it is 60. Motorized Division who beat Soviet 74. and 230. Rifle Divisions, right ? Or just this division helps protect LOC of Panzer group ?

And I see sources that Italian CSIR main achievment in Barbarossa was battle of Petrivoka in late September 1941 where they annhilated Soviet 273rd Rifle Division and defeated 261st RD and took 10,000 POW. Another source that German claimed they had captured 21,862 Soviet POW at Petrivoka battle. This calulation from German were separate from Italian or mixed together ? Thank

By the end of September Hungarians were defending the Dnieper River line between Dnepropetrovsk and Zaparozhie. I don't have a good idea what they were doing in early October day by day. You can probably look for Laga Ost maps.

There are decent maps of the operation in NARA T314 R823 (maybe R834) XXX.A.K. Also look at the South Front maps on Pamyat-Naroda and the Ost-Lage Maps. Together they give quite a good view of both the Uman and Melitopol Operations.
