The Romanian uprising on August 23, 1944 paralyzed the German rear. This was the reason for the surrender of the 6th Army. The experience of the first world war was not taken into account, according to its results, the German Kaiser spoke out: the Romanians are not a nation, but a profession ...

600 thousand Romanian soldiers were killed and wounded from October 1944 to April 1945. It also says a lot. No matter at whom to shoot and with whom to fight.

the numbers are different, in any case, the Romanians are bad allies
Of some 538,000 Romanian soldiers who fought against the Axis in 1944–45, some 167,000 were killed, wounded or went missing.

@jesk: First I wanted to say that haters gonna hate but let me refresh some facts for you.

First Axis member that defected was Italy at a moment when the Allied armies didn't reached mainland Italy.

Than Hungary was stopped from defection following Operation Margarethe and Operation Panzerfaust but it wasn't an independent nation anymore. As for Romania, King's Michael coup come at a moment when Soviet armies were already on Romanian soil, German panzer divisions promised to help defend Romania were long gone up north, German equipment wasn't delivered etc etc. Still, Soviets were advancing so slow that they entered Bucharest an already liberated city from German troops and all passes to Transylvania were secured by Romanian army.

Now I know very well the operation itself and I can make my own idea, my curiosity was toward OoB of German armies in Moldova in 44 for research purposes and I'm thankful to those who bothered to post purposeful answers.

LE: oh and indeed Romanians were used as "gun flesh" by Soviets, for example Oarba de Mures. I know that battle in detail from my grandfather who was there.

Own losses (19.8 and night 19/20.8) - 16 killed, 49 wounded.
In the morning of 20 August attack by small elements after an artillery preparation, a first Romanian trench line is captured. After 294 Rifle Division make a successful advance on the right an attack is continued with division's main forces. After noon Vulturi is taken. Axis counterattacks with a small number of tanks are repulsed in the second half of the day. About 200 prisoners and many weapons are captured, own losses - 35 killed and 146 wounded.
On 21 August the division pursues retreating Axis forces to the Bahlui River. In the evening a divisional vanguard (recon company, training company and anti-tank battery) enters the north-east suburbs of Iasi where it meets elements of the German 226 Infantry Regiment/79 Infantry Division (2 prisoners from this regiment are captured at Iasi). I know the remains at Kishinev-Leova of 848th Grenadiers (282nd German infantry) were destroyed on 27th-28th september 1944. Are there accounts about where were taken German prisoners from that infantry regiment? Soviet wrote about Leova sector and 848th GR prisoners?
About them was captured Major Lange, died in captivity later.
