West Prussia - Eastern Pomerania Operations - 1945
West Prussia - Eastern Pomerania Operations - 1945
What books cover in detail German operations in this area in early 1945 - particularly the German response to Soviet advances from Tuchel through Konitz, West Prussia; and the adjoining Soviet thrust through Bublitz and Baldenburg to Koslin on the Baltic coast?
I do have some materials on 4th and 7th Panzer divisions but the information is fairly general.
I would prefer material in English although my German language skills are not too bad.

with the book Prit Buttar "Prussia battleground", you will find a very complete book on the fighting in Prussia from January to April 1945 with a lot of information on the 7th PZD
concenrnat the fighting of the 4th Pzd at the same time, there is the book of Hans Schaufler "Panzer on the Vistula"
good reading

An overview on good literatur (1st rate), but only in german:
- Hans Meier-Welcker 'Die Abwehrkämpfe am Nordflügel der Ostfront 1944/45' (focussing mostly on the coast area of the Baltics)
- Johann Huber 'So war es wirklich' (first hand account of a Cdr. of a PzJäger. in 1944/45..7.PzDiv....5 stars!!)
- Letzte Schlacht an der Ostfront (really good, covers the fighting of 337.VGD in 1945)
- Neumann Joachim 'Die 4. Panzerdivision 1943 - 1945'
GDiR contains much primary material for the fightings
Just as a start...
You could read also these existing topics :
- Danzig 1945
- The battles in Pomorania 1945
- The battle for Memel
