Hello Kelvin ; a little.........................................
Petrikowka 1941.
As far as I know it was part of the same operation, after the consolidation of the Zaritcianka and Voinovka bridgeheads, the German tank forces were ready to carry out the annihilation maneuver of the Soviet forces over the Dnieper. But first they had to eliminate the enemy forces deployed against the Dnipropetrovsk bridgehead to operate the crossing with the northern forces.
The German plan was a joint action of the XIV Pz Corps, which was to focus on Novomoskovsk, and the III. Corps that from the Dniepropetrovsk bridgehead had to reach the same goal and then march east along the banks of the Samara River. The Italian Expeditionary Corps in turn had to encircle and annihilate the Soviet forces that were relatively stable between the Dnieper and Orel, from the northwest with the Pasubio and from the southeast with the Torino; the town of Petrikowka was chosen as the point of union of the two divisions.

Hi Tigre, thank for your answer. It seemed Petrikovka encirclement was executed by Italian alone, in accordance with the map, German focus on Novomoskovsk.
By the way, battle in southern Ukraine seemed complicated. I see German sources that 60000 POW taken in Nikolaev in Aug 1941, but as I know, the trap at Nikolaev were doomed as Soviet forces escaped successfully. I suspect if German counted the number of POW including several battles in Nikopol, Kherson, Krivig Rog and Stalino because these four vital cities fell within several days when NIkolaev fell.
So Raul do you have information about this battle for my reference ? Thank

What's your source here? In another thread I have 37k PoW reported by 1.Pz.Armee, including subordinated units. That would leave ~15k taken by the Italians?Kelvin wrote: ↑28 Aug 2020, 14:47Hello, I see two battle of Petrikowka in 28-30 Sept 1941, one is German panzer troop encircled Soviet 15th, 261st and 273rd Rifle divisions, taking 21,862 POW mostly from 273rd RD another is Italian troop encircled Soviet 47th tank division in Petrikowka and took 10000 POW, Are they separate battle ? Source for this too?Kelvin wrote:I see German sources that 60000 POW taken in Nikolaev in Aug 1941, but as I know, the trap at Nikolaev were doomed as Soviet forces escaped successfully. You're probably right about Nikolaev PoW count. Germans often amalgamated statistics for a large campaign into a single number covering multiples battles/Kessels. Unfortunately this often gets repeated in secondary sources without combing through the individual battles.
Per the German maps in this thread, that impression seems caused by a bit of home-cooking in the Italian sources.Kelvin wrote:It seemed Petrikovka encirclement was executed by Italian alone, in accordance with the map, German focus on Novomoskovsk.

Hello, TheMarcksPlan, the sources mentions German captured 21,862 POW and Italian took 10000 POW, so I guest 3 x Soviet RD, 15th, 261st and 273rd were destroyed.TheMarcksPlan wrote: ↑17 Apr 2021, 23:53What's your source here? Another 4000 POW maybe came from rout of 74th and 230th Rifle division near Zaprozhye in early Oct.
