Who said that? Not only they used but the also produced ammunition for captured weapons on their factories. In case of Pak-36(r) their developed their own ammunition with higher muzzle velocity and armor-penetration capability than original Soviet shells:

not to mention the vast use of PPSH-41 submachine guns. Given that those had 71 round drums, ammo could last for a little while if a soldier had one or two extra drums on him.

When times get desperate on the front, any good infantryman will use any and all tools available to him. Doesn't matter if they are enemy grenades, mines, rifles, machine guns, whatever is there.

There is also what Art has pointed out about the Pak-36.
