Relation between Barbarossa and Taifun

Post by Kelvin » 25 May 2021 13:43

Hitler issued a directive to start Operation Taifun in Oct 1941, for capture of Moscow, and concentrated 3 x Panzer Groups for this battle. Is it mean another phase of German invasion of USSR ? something like Fall Gelb is first phase of Western campaign in 1940, and followed by Fall Rot, that mean Barbarossa is first phase of war June-Sept 1941 and then second phase ( or Hitler thinking, last phase) Oct 1941 ? thank

No, "Taifun" was a part of "Barbarossa": ...further offensive operations to be initiates with the objective of occupying the important center of communications and of armament production, Moscow.
There is no waste, there are reserves (Slogan of German Army in World Wars)
