What was the land area of occupied Russia?

I'm trying to get a rough estimate of the land area that Hitler's forces occupied in Russia (e.g. 500000 square miles).

Ideally, I'd have estimates for both the Russian SFSR and the Soviet Union. As I only need a rough estimate, I'm not too concerned whether land was occupied in 1941 but not 1942 (or vice-versa).

Anyone can point me to such estimates?

You can do it easily yourself:
How to Measure Area and Distance in Google Maps

I did it roughly for the area lost in 1941 - from 22.06.41 to 31.12.41 and guess what - got ca. 500000 mi2 !

There are accurate (sort of) numbers in a statistical handbook on Soviet economy.

Total Soviet territory ever occupied during the war - 1 926 000 km2.
Occupied by Dec.1941 - 1 543 000
Occupied by March 1942 - 1 412 000
By November 1942 - 1 795 000
By March 1943 - 1 301 000
By 1 October 1943 - 1 017 000
By 1 January 194 - 917 000
By 22 June 1944 - 577 000
By 2 August 1944 - 227
