I don't disagree that there were encirclements in 1942/1943. However it is evident to me that there could have been far more encirclements, especially after July 1943 if the Red Army had more motorization of its infantry arm. Remember the daily maps of Zhitomir-Berdichev? An accerlated rate of advance could have seized many opportunities.
