Do you have photo of the Ingo that can you post?

I ask for your kind help if possible: it would help a lot to have details of the sinking of the Ingo. I already have the general info, but would like to have a detailed report if possible, or some account from survivors. The wrecks is broken into two parts: a bow section which is upside down, and a stern section which includes the superstructure and is on its keep. I was wandering if this is somehow reflected in the report of the sinking.

The USMM official history states that Ingo was hit by a torpedo amidships, on starboard side. She sank in fifteen minutes. No other details.

Eight men perished in the sinking and 256 were rescued (German crew: five missing and 40 survivors, including one seriously wounded; German troops: three missing and 201 survivors; Italian naval personnel: no losses and 15 survivors)

SS Ingo. I can't find the owner of this picture but it has one.

Ingo was sunk on 27 January 180 miles off Malta in a day-strike by No. 830 Squadron FAA Swordfish. They also claimed a hit on another vessel (presume Duisburg but could have been the accompanying AMC), and the photos taken show one vessel broken in two and sinking (Ingo I presume) and another one making heavy smoke. This was considered an examplary operation and it was circulated to other commands later in the year.

Hi Dilli,

yes, it is broken into two parts. The bow section is capsized and includes the cargo holds #1 and 2. The stern section is on the keel, and goes from the superstructure to the bow.
