Operation Status I

#1

Post by Jordi Comas » 25 Mar 2023, 14:44

Hi all,

Status I was a British naval delivery of fighter reinforcements to Malta between 8 - 10 September 1941.
Forces involved: CV Ark Royal, CL Hermione, DD Forester, Gurkha, Lance, Lively...............but was DD Legion also involved?

DD Legion took part in Status II few days later

Thank you very much
Jordi

The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

Yes, but history.net about this subject says:

8 September 1941: LEGION deployed with HM Destroyers FORESTER, LANCE and LIVELY as screen for HM Aircraft Carrier ARK ROYAL and HM Cruiser HERMIONE during Malta aircraft delivery. (Operation STATUS I).

Thank you!

That's why, when asking such questions, it is always helpful to post the sources.

What is history.net quoting?
