Hitler`s view on cyprus?

Post by Petterson » 07 Jul 2006 10:56

What was Hitler`s view on cyprus? Was he going to give that island to his ally Italy or did he consider that still part of the British Empire? Hitler after all admired British Empire.

Though there were tacit plans for a German/Axis invasion of Cyprus, German airborne losses on Crete and British deception plans scuppered its enactment.

Germany viewed Cyprus as a linge pin to any possible support for its involvement in Syria and the effect it would have on the RN's op's in the Eastern Med.
