Were there British or American paratroopers in action in Tunesia, 1942 or 1943?

The 1st British Parachute Brigade saw action in Tunisia. It consisted of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Parachute Battalions, under the command of Brigadier Flavell.

The only US airborne troops in North Africa were elements of the 509th Parachute Regiment, which undertook a drop at Youks les Bains, near Tebessa as part of Operation Torch. Also I believe the II/503rd also undertook operations as part of Torch, against La Senia & Tafaraoui airfields. All these drops/actions were in Algeria.

The 509th was activated from the 2nd Bn/503rd Parachute Infantry. The redsignation became effective as the unit was on its way to North Africa for Operation Torch. Only the 509th received Campaign credits for North African operations; all those for the 503rd are for operations in the Pacific Theater--Corregidor, for instance.
