Greek tug Zooduchus Pigi

#1

Post by dylan1966 » 02 Jul 2017, 17:55

My Dad served on a Greek tug after being on HMS Khartoum and HMS Ladybird in the Med when they sunk.
Name was Zooduchus Pigi...that also sunk 17 4 41
Does anybody know the circumstances this would have happened? The posting to a Greek tug for 5 months?
I suppose as Allies we worked together with the Greek navy.
I'm trying to find a photo of the tug but proving very difficult.

Ladybird was only sunk on 12 May 41.

Try forum.marinearchiv.de for pictures. They can be very helpful.

Here's a short article I wrote about the insect class with some helpful links:

The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

Slightly off-topic — but might be of interest regarding the Insect class (and other river gunboats) — are two good books dealing with the Royal Navy's river boats in China:
Martin H. Bridge
"The Royal Navy and the Sino-Japanese Incident, 1937–1941"
Ian Allen, London, 1973
ISBN 0 7110 0402 1

Gregory Haines
"Gunboats on the Great River"
Macdonald & Jane's, London, 1976
ISBN 0356 08235 0
Information not passed on is lost.

I am not registered on that site. Sign into the site and then paste ' http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/in ... 7399;image ' into the address bar.

Urmel, if that doesn't work, can you save the image to your computer and then post here on AHF?
