Fantastic pictures, many thanks for posting these.
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

I was hoping that Robert Forczyk's Desert Armour would be the definitive work on the subject, but I have found errors. For example, the only German pre-Crusader tank replacements he lists are 15x Pz III and 5x Pz IV in early June 1941. He omits RECAM and all the tanks sunk by Upright. He says the Empire Song had 50 Matildas instead of 45. And he gets mixed up about Convoy WS.8b saying 12 Matildas and 14 cruisers instead of 14 and 12.

My questions for the group are:

1. Are Urmel's numbers from 2018 still considered to be the best available for the Germans?

2. Did Convoy WS.11 have 20 Crusaders (Forczyk) or 30 (Urmel).

3. Did the Italian IX Battalion arrive in August (Sadkovich) or October (Forczyk)?

I am afraid Forczyk chose not to get in touch with us, as we would have been happy to help him, for free.

Any idea if any of those cruisers were C/S?

None that I can see. I suspect the Mk. IVs should be CS, but no proof either way.

No worries, happy to help.

As for the other questions:

- right now cannot help with IX Btg Carri, but if you pushed me I would go for August;
- as for the quality of our 2018 analysis of tank shipments, all I can say is that I would love to see corrections.
