Hi folks.

Can anyone place the XVIII Battaglione Carabinieri in A.S before September 1942?

Does anyone know it's Tabelle Organiche?

Thanks in advance,
David.

David

Gads, footnotes. I would have spend years trying to find those comments.

Bottomline, the carabinieri site is likely the best answer you will find. As Nuno quoted, after the outbreak of hostilities, progressively more carabinieri units were mobilized. These units (119 sez., 4 btg., etc.) were units of the 10 ª armata. As the 10 ª armata was destroyed during Compass, I assume the battalions were raised between June and Dec of 1940. The I Battaglione carabinieri paracadutisti was definitely raised during this period.

The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

That appears to be the only Caribinieri unit that served in AS that is written about in any detail.
