XXII Battaglione Bersaglieri 5th Reggimento (Centauro)

When the XXII Battaglione Bersaglieri arrived in North Africa in late 1942, was it still a Battaglione Bersaglieri Motorcyclisti?

Kind Regards,
David.

Terza offensive britannica in Africa Settentrionale allegato 36 lists the battalion as XXII btg. armi accompagnamento e c.a.. The date of this report is 1 December 1942 and states the btg. was at Homs along with the XIV btg. autoportato. At the same time, the 5ª cp. motocicilisti e the XXIV btg. autoportato were in Italy at Castelvetrano.

I would assume from the dates that the btg. arrived in A.S. as a btg. acc e c.a.

Sorry I haven't answered. Been trying to pin down the organization. Terza offensiva clearly states it is a btg. acc. e c.a., BUT...

If organized for A.S. (as I assume it would be), it should be a btg. c.c. In schizzo 8 of 1st Armata, it is shown as a btg. autoportato.

So I am not sure what to say.

XIV & XXIV are autoportato, so if XXII were as well, the whole Regiment would have been. Does that sound feasible?
