setting up of vehicles

NARA T 315 roll 768

"The commander in chief of the Panzerarmee Afrika
Ia 7340/42 secret Army command post 17/9/1942

Concerns: setting up of trucks

The recent high loss of trucks is in the first place due to massing by the troops. I therefore remind my order that all trucks are positioned with a distance, repectively spacing of minimum 100 m from vehicle to vehicle. To diminish the effect of dropping in a row, the vehicles are to be pulled apart in breadth and depth. In all deployments, as a matter of principle the vehicles have to be dug in 1,5 m deep and camouflaged carefully. The company, respectively battery commanders are responsible for continuous carefull supervision of these measures.
The Gen.Kdos and the units immediately subordiated to the AOK cimmunicate to 25/9 that all officers have been instructed accordingly.
I will occasionaly have the setting up of vehicles checked by Feldgendarmerie in Storch.
All troop officers have to intervene with severe punishments against contraventions of these instructions.

The comander in chief
Fieldmarshall "

"21.Panzer division Ia 442/42 gKdos Div command post 21/08/1942

Reference DAK Kdr Gen nr 4380/42 gKdos of 24/08/1942

Concerns: transferring supply trains to the former positions of the division

1) in the areas that have become free by the transferring to the deployment area , all supply trains , pursers, repair services,.. have to be brought forward. Because these trucks are fewer than those that are transferred, when enemy recce aircraft appear, deliberately many and conspicuous movements have to be made to deceive the enemy. However, in the deployment area any movement during the day is forbidden.

2) Camouflage of the boxes that became free has to be carried out immediately. By covering with thorn bushes and other means sharp shadows of the edges have to be avoided

3) Flak can only fire in the deployment area when enemy aircraft attack the troop that is to be protected

4) During the transfer march and in the deployment area radio silence is to be kept. This also applies to tanks and sfl. "

" 21.Pz div
Ia 400/42 gKdos Div command post 9/8/42
Concerns defense north and south

Order for the defense north and south

I Defense north
1)......
2) a) the troops set up strongpoints in the assigned area. In this the fox holes have to used as a position if possible. Careful and deep installation of the trucks!
b) For the tanks stone- or earth boxes with cover on top have to be created which make it more difficult for the air reconnaissance to recognise occupancy. In this, besides camouflage material(search commandos to be sent out) , also during the day? blankets of the troops, tent tarpaulins, etc.. have to be used. Part of the camouflage material should be provided by the army engineer commander . Army engineer commander must be contacted by Pz. Pi. btln 200
