s.Pz.Abt. 501 (Tiger) with Pz.Rgt. 7 in Tunisia

Hello,

I'm a little bit confused by the numbering or let's say company designation of the Tigers from s.Pz.Abt. 501, which were used by 10. Pz.Div. within Pz.Rgt. 7 from April 1943 onwards.

We all know the Tiger pictures with the 7xx and 8xx numbers on the turret (former 1./s.Pz.Abt. 501 and 2./s.Pz.Abt. 501).

O.k., but this here baffled me a little bit, screenshots from the Fold3 collection while it was for free, nearly one year ago:
1943-04-13 - 1. Kp. (9., Pz.Rgt. 7), Becher, Siegfried (Fw).png
1943-05-00 - 1. Kp. (9., Pz.Rgt. 7), Dargel, Robert - vermißt.png
1943-05-00 - 2. Kp. (10., Pz.Rgt. 7), Hanfe, Karl (Gefr).png
1943-05-06 - 2. Kp. (10., Pz.Rgt. 7), Hohaus, Herbert (Gefr).png
So, well, according to this cards, 1./s.Pz.Abt. 501 became 9./Pz.Rgt. 7 and 2./s.Pz.Abt. 501 became 10./Pz.Rgt. 7. That would make more sense than 7./Pz.Rgt. 7 and 8./Pz.Rgt. 7 as Pz.Rgt. 7 already had a 7. and 8. Kompanie at hand, at least when arriving in Tunisia.

But, on the other hand, we have the clear photo evidence!?

One should think that the units involved should know what they have to report to Berlin, as these cards from Fold3/Ancestry are based on the Verlustlisten collected by each individual unit.

It's a little bit weird, what do you think? Or ..., someone have more information on that?

Thanks for having a thought :-)

Oliver
